The Fort Hood Tax Center has moved.
It is now located at the intersection of 52nd Street and 761st Tank Battalion Avenue, in Building 13, in the Consolidated Client Services Building.
The center opened for the 2014 tax program at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
“We are seeing clients on a daily basis,” said Capt. Michael Lyness, the tax center officer-in-charge.
Tax center services are free for all active duty military, family members and retirees. Spouses can come in without their soldier, Lyness said.
If the soldier is deployed, the spouse will need a power of attorney to file a tax return. Appointments can be made, but the center also accepts walk-ins.
“You need to bring everything, all tax-related documents,” Lyness said, citing income information, W-2s, 1099s and records of childcare expenses as needed documentation.
“As much information as possible related to taxes in the previous year. The more ... the better.”
Lyness said the center’s space is limited and childcare is not available on-site.
“Children are not allowed in the tax preparation area.”
The center features 21 soldiers preparing taxes on-site at a time, allowing visitors to file both federal income tax returns along with state tax returns.
The tax center will be closed on all federal holidays, along with several training holidays. Call 254-288-7995 to schedule an appointment.
