The recent recall of Atorvastatin medication does not affect prescriptions filled by any Fort Hood pharmacies or community-based medical homes.

However, beneficiaries who have prescriptions filled for this cholesterol-lowering medication at local commercial pharmacies are urged to contact their pharmacists to ensure the recall does not affect medications they may have received.

According to The Associated Press, Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals, one of the manufacturers of generic Atorvastatin, announced the recall of their product from the market Nov. 23, after it was determined some lots may contain glass particles.

Beneficiaries who have additional questions can call the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center Pharmacy at (254) 288-8100.
