Pfc. Manuel Solloso, a medic assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, prepares to transport Freedom bags given by Thomas Arnold Elementary School back to Fort Hood, Oct. 4. Solloso, a native of Sykesville, Maryland and other Soldiers received that bags from the unit’s adopted school to as they prepare to deploy to Afghanistan later this fall.
After 20 hours of travel, by plane and bus, I finally made it to Camp Casey, South Korea with the remainder of Fort Hood’s 1st Brigade Combat Team soldiers. For the next several days, I will be following the mission and daily lives of Ironhorse troopers as they begin a nine-month rotation in the land of the morning calm.
