I hope everyone is having a great week, and I hope you get a chance to drop by the newsstands and grab the latest copy of the Fort Hood Herald.

This week's cover story looks at the mission of III Corps in Afghanistan. During the unit's color casing ceremony, LTG Mark Milley shared some amazing statistics about the progress of Afghanistan. I think everyone was shocked and impressed with the numbers. They are definitely worth taking a look at, if you read nothing else in the paper.

But if you do choose to flip through a few more pages, you'll find a feature story by Sarah Rafique on a WTB soldier's experience with Ride 2 Recovery, which will ride through Killeen and Fort Hood this week. I've covered the event before and the stories these wounded warriors share are truly inspiring.

We've also got information on some great events coming up this week, including free legal advice for veterans, Granger Smith's 100-mile walk fundraiser and a recycling event benefiting MWR.

Please grab a copy and if you see something you like, let us know! If you see something that's missing, share that too, and I will do my best to get it covered.

Have a great week!

After 20 hours of travel, by plane and bus, I finally made it to Camp Casey, South Korea with the remainder of Fort Hood’s 1st Brigade Combat Team soldiers. For the next several days, I will be following the mission and daily lives of Ironhorse troopers as they begin a nine-month rotation in the land of the morning calm.
