Fort Hood is the home of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club. I hope this is the same community I remember when CSM Horvath started the SAMC in the 80's with the good help of Don Moore, and others. As citizens, let the Governor know that failure to award the Texas Legislative Medal of Honor to Audie Murphy is a slap in every veteran's face, and the faces of the countries that Audie Murphy ever fought to liberate and defend. It is an insult to those who serve today.

Call the governor at (512) 463-2000 and leave him a message that this award should be approved NOW.

I called the Office of the Governor when I got a tweet about this. The number is (512) 463-2000. I suggest all call them and let them know you support this endeavor.

What the entire German army couldn't do in WW2 it appears the Texas legislature and Governor Perry have succeeded in doing! To not award another medal to Audie Murphy who portrait hangs in the legislature is beyond understanding.
Murphy is the epitome of the American soldier and a hero to all. Not only was he snubbed in 2011 and then again last month but he was renominated again this past week, and the issue died in the legislature.
Murphy could care less about any medal, but this is a way for Texas to again catapult him into the modern era and bring his name back to the forefront, perhaps giving children a new role model.
In any case, I think the Office of the Governor needs to act before the story continues to grow. It is an embarrassment for the Texas state government.

Day 1: On the ground in South Korea with Ironhorse soldiers
Posted: February 25, 2016

After 20 hours of travel, by plane and bus, I finally made it to Camp Casey, South Korea with the remainder of Fort Hood’s 1st Brigade Combat Team soldiers. For the next several days, I will be following the mission and daily lives of Ironhorse troopers as they begin a nine-month rotation in the land of the morning calm.
