For re-enactors, Gettysburg is pinnacle of hobby
In a July 2009 photo, re-enactors portraying Union cavalry begin a three-hour ride in Gettysburg along part of the original route the cavalry took to get to the Battle of Gettysburg. For the first time in at least a decade, two re-enactments, planned and organized by different groups, will take place on farms outside Gettysburg during the 150th anniversary of the battle. The first starts Friday and ends Sunday. The second is July 4-7.
In an April 30, 2011, photo a re-enactor portraying a member of the Confederate army participates in the re-enactment “Holding the Line,” the skirmish at the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg.
