Navy Seaman Recruit Andrew J. Arey recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Arey is the son of Connie S. Greer of Killeen and Collis D. Arey of Brady.

Navy Seaman Recruit Michael Bryan Kelly, son of Michelle Mohan of Copperas Cove, and Dean Kelly, of Inverness, Fla., recently completed the U.S. Navy’s eight-week basic training program at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Kelly is a 2012 graduate of Lecanto High School of Lecanto, Fla.

Air Force Airman Jailene Bruno graduated from eight weeks of basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Bruno is the daughter of Juan Bruno of Killeen, and sister of Suleyka Pagan of Harker Heights. She is a 2011 graduate of Shoemaker High School, Killeen.

Air Force Airman Cathryn N. Hunt has graduated from the basic military training program at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

Hunt is the daughter of Sally Hunt of San Leon, and sister of Shane Palmer of Killeen.

She is a 2008 graduate of Dickinson High School.

Day 1: On the ground in South Korea with Ironhorse soldiers

After 20 hours of travel, by plane and bus, I finally made it to Camp Casey, South Korea with the remainder of Fort Hood’s 1st Brigade Combat Team soldiers. For the next several days, I will be following the mission and daily lives of Ironhorse troopers as they begin a nine-month rotation in the land of the morning calm.
