Army Warrant Officer Michaelshaine L. Hampton graduated from the Warrant Officer Candidate School at Fort Rucker, Ala.

The course is designed to certify warrant officers as technically and tactically competent to serve as warrant officers in designated career specialties.

Hampton is an aviator and has served in the military for four years.

He is the son of Michael and Annette of Hampton of Killeen.

His wife, Darsan, is the daughter of Sandra McCoy of Derrider, La.

The warrant officer is a 2001 graduate of Shoemaker High School.

Marine Corps Pfc. Amanda L. Wellman graduated from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

She is the daughter of Rene L. Buchanan of Belton and Jeffery H. Wellman of Temple.

Wellman is a 2011 graduate of Belton High School.

Air Force Airman Alejandro Rojo graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program.

He is the son of Manuel Rojo of Fort Worth.

Rojo is a 2007 graduate of Shoemaker High School.

Air Force Reserve Airman Aaron L. Smith graduated from eight weeks of basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

He is the son of Rowena Smith of Killeen and the grandson of Phyllis Louis of Philadelphia, Pa.

Smith is a 2011 graduate of Shoemaker High School.

Army Pvt. Codey M. Rouse graduated from nine weeks of basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C.

Rouse is a 2009 graduate of Highland Park High School in Illinois.

He is the son of Michelle and John Carroll of Killeen.

Navy Seaman Apprentice Brian T. Huth recently completed eight weeks of basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.

A 2012 graduate of Belton High School, Huth is the son of Paula R. Garcia and Brian T. Huth, both of Belton.

Day 1: On the ground in South Korea with Ironhorse soldiers

After 20 hours of travel, by plane and bus, I finally made it to Camp Casey, South Korea with the remainder of Fort Hood’s 1st Brigade Combat Team soldiers. For the next several days, I will be following the mission and daily lives of Ironhorse troopers as they begin a nine-month rotation in the land of the morning calm.
