Army Warrant Officer Steven J. Gnau graduated from the Warrant Officer Candidate School at Fort Rucker, Ala. The primary focus of the school is military occupational specialty specific, augmented with common-core subjects as designated by a Task Site Selection Board and monitored by the Warrant Officer Career Center.

Gnau is the son of Debra and Gerald Wilkin of Hillsboro, Ohio. His wife, Shaylen, is the daughter of Rob Coty of Bellingham, Wash., and Robin Busch of Killeen. He is a 1999 graduate of Hillsboro High School, Ohio.

Army Pvt. Andrew J. Ramos has graduated after completing nine weeks of basic combat training at Fort Jackson, S.C. Ramos is the son of Felix Ramosrosario of Rineyville, Ky., and Lorri Ramos of Colorado Springs, Colo. He is a 2012 graduate of Killeen High School.

The following airmen have earned four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force after completing eight weeks of basic training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio:

Air Force Airman Jay Chhoeun, son of Lisa Marsh of Harker Heights, is a 2013 graduate of Shoemaker High School.

Air Force Airman Vicareous M. Wright, nephew of Janetta McDowell of Killeen, is a 2013 graduate of Harker Heights High School.

Air Force Airman Kacy L. Cotham is the daughter of Deana Hamson of Temple and Curtis Cotham of McGregor. She is a 2011 graduate of Temple High School.

Air Force Airman Prins Bae, son of Kum Yeo Bae and Kyeong Jae Bae of Killeen, is a 2010 graduate of Westlake High School, Austin.

Air Force Airman Carl A. Richardson, son of Carl and Joan Richardson of Killeen, is a 2010 graduate of Shoemaker High School.

Air Force Airman Kaylah T. Cousin, daughter of Olivia Cousin of Killeen, is a 2009 graduate of Shoemaker High School.

Air Force Airman Melissa Forero, daughter of Maria and Oscar Forero of Killeen, is a 2012 graduate of Shoemaker High School.

Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Master Thomas R. Mitchell is a 2013 graduate of Harker Heights High School.

Air Force Reserve Airman Geovanny A. Montufar is the son of Carmen Rubiera of Killeen and Geovanny Montufar of Harker Heights. He is a 2010 graduate of Harker Heights High School.

Day 1: On the ground in South Korea with Ironhorse soldiers

After 20 hours of travel, by plane and bus, I finally made it to Camp Casey, South Korea with the remainder of Fort Hood’s 1st Brigade Combat Team soldiers. For the next several days, I will be following the mission and daily lives of Ironhorse troopers as they begin a nine-month rotation in the land of the morning calm.
