Army Spc. Brett A. Hernandez returned to the U.S. after being deployed overseas at a forward operating base in Afghanistan.

Hernandez is an airborne infantryman assigned to the 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska. He has served in the military for more than one year.

He is the son of Andra Vinson of Belton and Frank Hernandez of Temple.

The specialist is a 2009 graduate of Belton High School.

Army Pfc. Clinton J. Garoutte graduated from nine weeks of basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Ga.

Additional training included battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.

Garoutte is the son of Cathleen Dell of Killeen.

He is a 2011 graduate of Killeen High School. He earned an associate degree in 2011 from Temple College.

Army Pvt. Robert W. Wolff graduated from nine weeks of basic combat training at Fort Jackson, S.C.

Wolff is the son of Laniel Wolff of Nolanville.

He is a 2012 graduate of Harker Heights High School.

Air Force Airman Demetrius T. Brown graduated from eight weeks of basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

Brown is the son of William Brown of Killeen.

He is a 2008 graduate of Shoemaker High School and earned an associate degree in 2012 from Central Texas College.

Navy Airman Joann Alvarez-Maysonet from the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis watched the rock band “Taking Back Sunday” perform a concert in the ship’s hangar bay while forward deployed to the 5th Fleet Area of Responsibility.

The airman is the sister of Milka J. Alvarez- Maysonet of Whitehall, Pa., and sister of Jose A. Alvarez-Maysonet of Killeen.

Alvarez-Maysonet is a 2001 graduate of Rosalina C. Martinez High School of Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, and joined the Navy in December 2011.
