Marine Corps 2nd Lt. Shafiq W. Ladha was commissioned to his current rank after successfully completing four years of academic, physical and professional training at the U. S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.

Ladha is the son of Amy L. Wright of Killeen.

He is a 2008 graduate of Ellison High School.

Army Pfc. Garrick A. Glover graduated from nine weeks of basic combat training at Fort Jackson, S.C.

Glover is the son of Nancy and Jimmy Glover of Temple and a 2009 graduate of Troy High School.

Navy Seaman Apprentice Stacey J. Goodwin assigned to the Nimitz class aircraft carrier USS Harry S Truman recently got underway for a final sustainment exercise before the ship’s upcoming deployment.

Truman departed Naval Station Norfolk and joined with guided-missile cruisers USS San Jacinto, USS Gettysburg and guided missile destroyers USS Bulkeley and USS Mason for the exercise.

Goodwin is a 2012 graduate of Shoemaker High School.

He is the son of Kasandra Grayson of Killeen, and Bernard Goodwin of Lake Alfred, Fla.

Navy Seaman Apprentice Bryan A. Skelton recently reported for duty aboard the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman, home ported in Norfolk, Va.

Skelton, a 2010 graduate of Killeen High School, joined the Navy in February 2013.

He is the son of Monica and George Skelton of Killeen.

The following airmen completed eight weeks of basic training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, earning four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force:

Air Force Airman 1st Class Lateisha R. Paige is the daughter of Scotty Paige Sr. and Anita Paige, both of Harker Heights. She is a 2010 graduate of Harker Heights High School.

Air Force Airman 1st Class William J. Trentham is 2006 graduate of Shoemaker High School, he received an associate degree in 2010 from Central Texas College.

Trentham is the son of Sandra Knapke of Lampasas.

Air Force Airman Caleb White is the son of Richard and Ronda White of Harker Heights and a 2006 graduate of Ellison High School.

Air Force Reserve Airman Kierra M. Kennedy is the daughter of Lorene Frank of Killeen, and granddaughter of Nell Parker of Quitman, Miss.

She is a 2012 graduate of Shoemaker High School.

Day 1: On the ground in South Korea with Ironhorse soldiers

After 20 hours of travel, by plane and bus, I finally made it to Camp Casey, South Korea with the remainder of Fort Hood’s 1st Brigade Combat Team soldiers. For the next several days, I will be following the mission and daily lives of Ironhorse troopers as they begin a nine-month rotation in the land of the morning calm.
