President Barack Obama applauds U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Ty M. Carter, after awarding him the Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest military honor, on Monday at the White House in Washington. Carter said he hopes to use the honor to help others suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, which has afflicted him since a 2009 battle in Afghanistan that cost eight fellow soldiers their lives.
