Sand from around the world anchors flagpole
At Reeces Creek Elementary School on June 4, fourth-grader Patricia GaribayBartolo pours sand from a jar into the base of the school's re-installed flagpole. Joining her during the ceremony in front of the school is Private First Class Jasmine Andrade, a former Reeces Creek student and her younger brothers Augustine Villalpando and Gabriel Villalpando, current students at the school. Students and staff gathered donated sand from around the world to anchor its flagpole.

During a flagpole re-dedication ceremony June 4 at Reeces Creek Elementary School, students, staff and guests poured donated sand into the base around the newly re-installed pole, necessary due to construction at the school. The sand came from points around the globe and honored soldiers past and present.
