A 21-year-old Fort Hood solider is behind bars after police said she helped three armed men rob a local video game store at gunpoint.

Spc. Jessica Elaintrell Smith, 2nd Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment, was arraigned on a first-degree felony charge of aggravated robbery Feb. 7 by Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin. Potvin set Smith’s bail at $100,000.

Smith was arrested in connection with the Aug. 2 armed robbery of a Game Exchange store at in the 2500 block of South W.S. Young Drive in Killeen.

According to an arrest affidavit, three males entered the store, then broke several glass showcases, and stole numerous electronic items, including iPads, iPods, cellphones, chargers and accessories, according to the affidavit. The three then fled the scene.

Upon reviewing security footage, investigators said they saw Smith use her cellphone to text someone before the robbery, and that one of the men allowed her to exit the store.

Police said they later discovered Smith pawned items taken from the store at shops in Killeen and Duncanville.

Police executed a search warrant at Smith’s residence in the 3000 block of Blackburn Drive last week and reportedly found numerous pieces of evidence. Smith was arrested.

Smith told police she agreed to participate in the robbery with the three men. She said the text messages told the men who was working in the store.

Smith said she was rewarded with iPods, iPads, phones and headphones.

Police did not release the names of the three men involved in the robbery, but said in a statement released Feb. 10 that further arrests are pending as the investigation continues.
