KILLEEN — United States military veterans with legal questions are invited to attended a free clinic at Texas A&M University-Central Texas Friday afternoon.

The clinic is organized by the Bell County Bar Association, and is from 1 to 4 p.m. at Founder’s Hall on the A&M-Central Texas main campus.

The clinic is free to attend, and no appointment is necessary. Attorneys will provide guidance and consultation on a number of legal areas, including family law, wills and probate, consumer, property tax, disability and veterans benefits, as well as other legal problems or questions.

The clinic is in partnership with the Veteran’s Legal Initiative. The initiative began in Houston in 2008, but quickly spread across Texas.

“It was pretty obvious there was a need,” said Tara Shockley, a spokesperson for the Houston Bar Association.

The initiative is now active in 17 counties across Texas, including Bell County.

Friday’s clinic is open to all U.S. veterans and spouses of deceased veterans.
