America’s Navy is coming to Killeen at 7 p.m. Tuesday for a performance at the Killeen Amphitheater, 2201 E. Veterans Memorial Blvd.

Selected as one of 10 cities in Texas to host a performance by the United States Navy Band Cruisers during its 2014 tour, residents can enjoy one of the Navy’s signature outreach programs. The band also will perform at 7 p.m. Monday in the Frank Mayborn Auditorium, 3011 N. Third St., Temple.

As the U.S. Navy’s premier contemporary entertainment ensemble, the Cruisers feature eight of the Navy’s most dynamic performers. Formed in 1999 as a specialty unit of the band, the Cruisers are under the leadership of Senior Chief Musician Leon Alexander, a drummer. The group takes its name from the Navy’s versatile, flexible, multimissioned ship, the cruiser, and the band lives up to their namesake, playing multiple genres of music ranging from jazz and standards, rhythm and blues, classic rock, adult contemporary and pop, as well as original material.

The concerts are free, family-friendly events.
