Maj. Gen. Mark Milley was confirmed Monday by the Senate as the next commander of III Corps and Fort Hood, according to Sen. John Cornyn’s office.

Milley is the current commander of the 10th Mountain Division and Fort Drum, N.Y.

He also will be promoted to lieutenant general.

Fort Hood’s previous commander, Lt. Gen. Donald M. Campbell Jr., relinquished command in a ceremony last week.
