The Community Events and Bingo Center is celebrating its 17th anniversary on Nov. 4 with a birthday bingo extravaganza.

For $75, guests can participate in 10 free games and 13 regular bingo games, with a pot worth $18,500, said Lorraine Wykes, facility manager.

Doors will open at 4 p.m. and guests can enjoy a turkey and roast beef buffet dinner before the games begin at 7 p.m. The first game is worth $500 and each subsequent game increases in prize money, with the top game worth $10,000.

The Bingo Center has been a staple of entertainment at Fort Hood for nearly two decades.

“We have bingo six days a week,” Wykes said. “It’s always been popular.”

Daily games have cash prizes of more than $2,400 and the money pot increases throughout each week.

The free bingo cards are the old-fashioned paper cards, which are played for door prizes.

The newer games are played on computers. The facility expects the anniversary bingo to sell out, Wykes said. With more than 200 people currently registered, fewer than 100 computer slots were left as of Monday.

The celebration is open to all ID card holders and guests, with a $5 guest fee.

The $75 registration fee goes through Sunday. Day-of registration is $85. Call 254-532-9263.
