Boot collection: Fort Hood Fisher House is collecting 3,500 pairs of combat boots to honor service members killed in combat since 2001. The boots will line the route of the Remembrance Run on Nov. 1. The 17 killed in the Nov. 5, 2009, and the April 2 post shootings, also will be remembered. Drop off donations at Old Navy in Harker Heights, The Texas Outpost in Copperas Cove, on post Green Beans coffee locations and Fisher House. The Fisher House asks donors to lace up the boots individually and place a small empty water bottle upside down in each one. Small American flags also are welcome. Roller Derby Recreation League: Come out and join the Fort Hood Hell on Wheels All Girl Roller Derby Recreation League. The league is free to join and is open to female DOD ID card holders age 16 and older. Those younger than 18 must have a legal guardian present at all times. Skaters are required to provide their own equipment. Warrior Open: The George W. Bush Presidential Center is accepting applications for the fourth Warrior Open. Applications for the October tournament at Colinas Country Club in Dallas must be submitted at by July 18. Applicants must have been seriously injured in the war on terror during post 9/11 combat; be active-duty, retired or honorably discharged; provide a valid GHIN number verifying a Golf Handicap Index of 20 or below; and submit all application requirements by the deadline.

Youth Sports and Fitness Fall Sports sign up: Enroll youth from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Ages 3 to 5 can sign up for football and soccer, and ages 6 to 13 can play football, soccer and cheerleading from September to November.
