Roller Derby Recreation League: Come out and join the Fort Hood Hell on Wheels All Girl Roller Derby Recreation League. The league is free to join and is open to female DOD ID card holders age 16 and older. Those younger than 18 must have a legal guardian present at all times. Skaters are required to provide their own equipment during league practice and bouts. Warrior Open: The George W. Bush Presidential Center is accepting applications for the fourth Warrior Open, a golf tournament featuring members of the U.S. Armed Forces who served their country honorably and have been severely wounded since Sept. 11, 2001. The tournament, which is the first week of October at Las Colinas Country Club in Dallas, will honor those who serve and sacrifice to defend the U.S. and will herald the many effective organizations that give their time, talents and resources to support the men and women of our military and their families. Applications for the tournament must be submitted at by July 18. Applicants must have been seriously injured in the war on terror during post 9/11 combat; be active-duty, retired or honorably discharged; provide a valid GHIN number verifying a Golf Handicap Index of 20 or below; and, submit all application requirements by the deadline.

June 27: Play the Phantom Warrior Scramble for $35 per person, with the option to purchase mulligans for an additional $5 per person. Teams must consist of three players from the same division, directorate, battalion, brigade, company or branch. Additional player may be whomever the team desires. Shotgun start at noon, and on-site registration begins at 10:30 a.m.

Color Run Independence Day 5K Run/Walk: The Color Run, popularly known as the “Happiest 5k on the Planet” was founded to promote healthiness and happiness by bringing the communities together. Bring the whole family to this fantastic carnival-like atmosphere. Race begins at Harvey Functional Fitness Center on 73rd Street and Old Ironsides Avenue. Free to all DOD ID card holders and open to all ages. Strollers welcome. Show up at the starting line in white and finish plastered in color. After participants complete the course, they will get another chance to “show their colors” at the post-5k finish line festival, which includes music, dancing and massive color throws.
