Public television station KNCT-TV will air a special program documenting the history of medevac helicopter air crews.

“When I Have Your Wounded — The DUSTOFF Legacy,” is a one-hour documentary chronicling the legacy of the Army “dust off” medevac program from Korea and Vietnam through current U.S. Army campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The story captures the skill, dedication and professionalism of the Army aviation community, as well as bridges the connection of current Army aviation medevac pilots and their forefathers through multiple conflicts during the past 50 years.

Highlighted in the show are soldiers such as Maj. Charles Kelly, the first dust officer killed in Vietnam, whose phrase “When I have your wounded” became the mantra and driving force for dust-off warriors.

KNCT-TV will air “When I Have Your Wounded” at 7 p.m. Aug. 14. The station can be found on Channel 4 on local cable, Channel 46-1 for satellite subscribers and Channel 46 for noncable viewers.
