A soldier from the 553rd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 4th Sustainment Brigade, 13th Sustainment Command, and his family were given VIP treatment at the Ferrell Center during the Baylor University basketball game March 1.

Cpl. Carlos Maldonado earned the opportunity to attend the game after winning the 553rd’s noncommissioned officer board.

“My wife helped me out a lot by making me recite the NCO Creed every time I messed up and also took care of things around the house while I studied,” Maldonado said. “The environment (at the game) was great. Even after I was recognized, people would stop me in the hallways and shake my hand and say ‘thank you’ for my service. It feels good.”
