Celebrate the start of spring with a day of fun at the library.

Fort Hood’s Casey Memorial Library is celebrating the season change from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday with its annual “Spring Fling” event. Aimed at children ages 12 and younger, the celebration is free and “a chance for kids to see that the library is not just for hard work but can be a lot of fun, too,” said Pam Shelton, library director.

Shelton said Spring Fling will have a “carnival atmosphere” with outdoor booths and games, popcorn and goodie bags. Children also will have the opportunity to jump in a bounce house.

“They get to make crafts and do all kinds of things,” Shelton said. Families are encouraged to tour the library while they’re enjoying the event.

In the past, hundreds have come out to celebrate spring with the library and learn more about its services.

Other popular events at the library include preschool storytime on most Friday mornings, and its summer reading program.

In case of rain or other inclement weather, Shelton said Spring Fling will be moved inside the library.

For more information, call Jennifer Hauschildt, public services librarian, at 254-287-2716.
