The Army Marathon will present its second annual unit trophy to Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, race officials announced Monday.

The Strength In Unity Trophy is awarded to the unit whose top four runners cumulatively placed higher in the full marathon than any other unit. The trophy will be awarded at a special reception May 12 at Central Texas College.

“The Army Marathon was created to honor our military folks and their families, and especially to help raise money and awareness for the many organizations who serve these heroes,” said Ed Bandas, president of The Army Marathon.

After the inaugural marathon in 2013, 1st Cavalry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team received the trophy.
