The USO Fort Hood is bringing back its popular family program Movies on the Lawn with a showing of Disney’s “Frozen” on Friday night.
Families are invited to bring their blankets and lawn chairs at 7 p.m. to Sadowski Field to enjoy the movie along with complimentary popcorn and candy and some very special guests, said Isabel Hubbard, programs manager at the local USO. Families can expect face painters and other surprises.
“Our mission is to lift spirits of American troops and their families,” she said. “One of the things that we want to accomplish with all family programs is to keep the family connected. And by offering programs such as this, they don’t have to worry about how much it’s going to cost, they don’t have to worry will they let my kids in. They can come to the event and relax.”
Movies on the Lawn will run through October and show one family-friendly movie each month.
Another family program offered locally by the USO is Family Game Night on the third Thursday of each month, Hubbard said. For this program, families can enjoy board games and dinner.
“In this world that we live in, you have to make time to connect as a family,” Hubbard said. “We provide the materials and they provide the fun, because every moment counts.”
