Electronic waste month: Throughout the month, personal electronic waste can be recycled in containers located at the Clear Creek Commissary and in the parking lot across from Chili’s on TJ Mills Boulevard. Recyclable electronics include televisions, stereo equipment, kitchen appliances, cell phones, batteries, laptops and computer equipment, lawnmowers and DVDs. Personal property only. Discontinuation of Towel Service: at Fort Hood Physical Fitness Centers based on DOD and the Department of the Army sequestration expected funding issues. This resulted in the IMCOM G9 issuing guidance to eliminate towel service. Please remember to provide a personal towel for workouts and showering.

Flu shots are available: Every Thursday and Friday veterans can get their seasonal flu vaccination at the walk-in flu vaccination clinic at the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System in Temple or by requesting it at any upcoming scheduled visit with their primary care physician. The vaccination is free for all veterans enrolled in the health care system. A drive-through clinic at the Temple Campus is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 29-30 in the valet parking area. Don’t worry about it, as you can emulate those runners in that annual race by joining other runners of “The Great Place” at the Army Shadow Ten-Miler at Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area.
