Veterans Day 5K Run/Walk: Fort Hood Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation’s recreation division is hosting the Veterans Day 5K Run/Walk at Harvey Functional Fitness Center. The race kicks off 8 a.m. Registration is free and participants may log onto www.HoodMWR.com or stop by any of the Fort Hood physical fitness centers now through the day of the race to register. Nature In Lights: Drive through a “Winter Wonderland” as Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area transforms for kids and kids at heart, for the 17th consecutive season. Drive through the park and enjoy more than 115 illuminated, animated light displays choreographed to the tunes of the season. Open nightly from 5:30 to 11 p.m. Enjoy the drive through 5½ miles of holiday-inspired scenes. Nature in Lights is open to the public. Stop by Santa’s Village for hot chocolate, homemade cookies, seasonal crafts and a photo with Santa, Thursday through Sunday until Dec. 15 and nightly Nov. 15-17 and Dec. 19-24. Hop on the tram at Santa’s Depot, located in the parking lot of the marina cove, for a special trail of lights not seen by vehicular traffic. Nature in Lights is open on Thanksgiving. Pick up a free sixth annual Nature In Lights Christmas Ornament Monday through Wednesday evenings, while supplies last. One ornament will be passed out per vehicle. Also enter to win a free trip to Las Vegas or one of two camping packages at BLORA through Dec. 5. Join us this year for two additional nights of fun! Equestrian night is Jan. 6 and bike night is scheduled for Jan. 8. Enter the park via Liberty Hill Road to reach the trail head. The fees are $3/bike for adults and $2/bike for children 12 and under and $20/horse with a reduced rate of $15 for each additional horse/family. Hop on and ride the route by covered wagon for $10/person. Join the cyclists, mid-way through the route, at Live Oak Pavilion, for hot chocolate and snacks, or mosey on over to the cowboy campfire after the horse ride.
UFC 167 Watch Party: St-Pierre vs. Hendricks: This UFC Welterweight Championship bout between current champion Georges St-Pierre and No. 1 contender Johny Hendricks convenes on the UFC’s 20th anniversary and is guaranteed to be a hit! Enjoy drink specials and finger foods available for purchase. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and event is free and open to everyone 18 or older.
