Fort Hood’s outdoor recreational pools are open from noon to 8 p.m. every day. Bring the entire family along for a fun swim at the pool. For more information on pool party reservations and scheduling, call the aquatics office at (254) 287-9430. All eight pools are open to all ranks. $5,000 Cash Prize Giveaway: Register for your chance to win a one-time cash prize of $5,000. The winner must be eligible for USAA membership and have a USAA deposit account to collect earnings. Preschool Storytime: Casey Memorial Library’s weekly gathering features stories and a craft on a theme. Day cares and home-schooled students are welcome. Storytimes are from 10 to 11 a.m. in Room 156 of the library annex, Building 3202, 72nd Street and 761st Tank Battalion Avenue.

2013 Single Soldiers’ Fest: Fort Hood’s Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers has designed a great day to be outside in the fresh air with your friends and compete in unit sports competitions. Or you can relax at one of the many fine exhibits at the 2013 Single Soldiers Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area. There will be free activities, entertainment and food. Call (254) 287-6116.

1st Cavalry Division Museum Open House: The museum will have an open house from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. See displays from the past and current vehicles and equipment, as well as static displays provided by First Team units and a real Gatling gun.

Tuesday

The Book Club meets from noon to 1 p.m. to discuss “A Stolen Life” by Jaycee Dugard. Bring a lunch. The book club meets in Room 160 in the library annex. The Casey Memorial Library is in Building 3202 on 72nd Street and 761st Tank Battalion Avenue. Call (254) 287-2716.

Kids golf: The Courses of Clear Creek has golf clinics just for kids. The cost is $45 per child. The course is located in Building 52381, Battalion Avenue at Clear Creek Road. Call (254) 287-4130.

Youth and College Students Career Launch and Job Fair: Army Community Service and Child, Youth & School Services host the Youth and College Students Career Launch and Career Fair. June 12 to July 17

Summer reading: Registration for the Have Book, Will Travel Summer Reading Program at Casey Memorial Library is underway. Starting June 12, enjoy a weekly program from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesdays for preschoolers, school-age children and teens with stories, crafts and activities. There’s also an online reading program where children, teens and adults can read books, log their reading online and earn prizes. The theme for June 12 is Africa. Military kids: The University of Texas at Austin is hosting an Operation Military Kids Event for any military youth age 12-16. Enjoy a day of hands-on learning, campus tour, college prep information, career development and explore university life. This free event will help military kids get a taste of what college is all about while having fun and being with other military kids. Limited spaces available so register early. UFC 161 Watch Party: Rashad Evans vs. Dan Henderson — Come out to Legends Pub and catch Evans and Henderson in action as they fight to be crowned champion. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the watch party is free and open to everyone 18 and older. Several flat-panel TVs, drink specials and free finger foods available while supplies last.
