Movies on the Lawn: Fort Hood USO presents “Wreck it Ralph” at 7 p.m. in the 89th Military Police Brigade’s footprint. Free snacks and refreshments.


Preschool Storytime: Casey Memorial Library’s weekly gathering features stories and a craft on a theme. Day cares and home-schooled students are welcome. Storytimes are from 10 to 11 a.m. in Room 156 of the library annex, Building 3202, 72nd Street and 761st Tank Battalion Avenue.

Save a life: Robertson Blood Center will host a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Clear Creek Main Exchange.


Science Saturday: Come to the Casey Memorial Library from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and learn about different types of fingerprints and have fun making fingerprint shapes in the children’s room.


Sunday Movie Matinee: Join the Casey Memorial Library for a from 2 to 4 p.m. Popcorn and a beverage are provided. “First Kid” will be shown in room 156 in the library annex.


Salute the fallen: The Central Texas Memorial Day Ceremony at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery starts at 10 a.m. Maj. Gen. Anthony R. Ierardi, commander of the 1st Cavalry Division, is the guest speaker. Soldiers from Central Texas and Fort Hood who have lost their lives supporting the missions in Iraq and Afghanistan during 2012 will be honored.

A memorial stone will be dedicated at the end of the ceremony.

June 1-2

2013 Water Fest: Central Texas water enthusiasts can kick off summer, June 1-2, at Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area at Water Fest. Each day patrons may attend the event, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Activities will include the Drowned Rat Race, 21-foot Slide-n-slip, Gator Slip-n-Slide, kayak pools, inflatable bouncers, water slide rides, swimming at Sierra Beach and more. Patrons may also enjoy BLORA Ranch, the mountain bike riding trails and camping opportunities. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Water Fest is open to all and the cost is $6 per vehicle, each day. Call (254) 287-2523.

2013 Single Soldiers’ Fest: Fort Hood’s Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers has designed a great day to be outside in the fresh air with your friends and compete in unit sports competitions or just relax at one of the many fine exhibits at the 2013 Single Soldiers Festival, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area. June 12

Youth and College Students Career Launch and Job Fair: Army Community Services and Child, Youth & School Services host the Youth and College Students Career Launch and Career Fair.
