Extended hours: The Health Promotions Aerobics and Skating Center extended its hours for the summer. Come out to the center, Building 324 on 37th Street, now open for open skate, every Tuesday through Friday. The skate center is open from 2 to 5 p.m. For $5, get in the door and spend the day at the rink. Call (254) 287-5623.

Thursday Music Mix: From 3 to 8 p.m. enjoy pool, shuffleboard, popcorn and finger foods on the covered patio as you listen to a live DJ. The event is free and open to all 18 and older. Backbone NCO Lounge is inside Phantom Warrior Center, Building 194 on 37th Street. Call (254) 532-5073.

Casey Memorial Library Summer Reading Program: Activities for ages prekindergarten to 17 from 9 to 10 a.m. This week’s theme is Australia.

Christmas in July: Fort Hood’s Santa’s Workshop fundraiser will be during lunch and dinner at Pluckers in Killeen. Supporters must say they are there to support Santa’s Workshop, and 20 percent will be given to the nonprofit.

Saturday

Fort Hood Army Ten-Miler Team Time Trials: Fort Hood FMWR will conduct a Ten-Mile Time Trial event to assess and select active-duty military team members to represent Fort Hood at the 2013 Army Ten-Miler in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 20.

The time trial will be conducted at 6:30 a.m. The course will be an out-and-back course that begins and ends in the vicinity of the Shell and Valero gas stations just off U.S. Highway 190 in Nolanville on South Main Street.

Participants interested in training for the ten-miler before the time trials are welcome to attend twice weekly training sessions. Interval training is conducted at the Harker Heights High School Track on Tuesday and a tempo run begins at Carl Levin Park in Harker Heights on Thursday. National Ice Cream Day: Enjoy free ice cream from 1 to 3 p.m. in the children’s room at Casey Memorial Library.

Monday

Movie Matinee: Watch “Bee Movie” in Room 156 at the Casey Memorial Library from 2 to 4 p.m. Popcorn and a beverage are provided.

ACAP events

Fort Hood’s Army Career and Alumni Program will resume the Monday Mini Job Fair from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Oveta Culp Hobby Soldier and Family Readiness Center.
