2013 Big Bass Contest

Whether an avid angler or recently lured into the world of fishing, the heaviest catch wins a rod and reel combo. The contest is open to all and registration is available at the Sportsmen’s Center Pro Shop (Rod and Gun Club Loop, 53rd Street and Murphy Road, Building 1937) for $2 per participant. Fort Hood Fishing Permit and State License are required to participate. Participants can also weigh-in their catch at the Sportsmen’s Center Pro Shop. Call (254) 532-4552.

University of Georgia Survey

Support the future of Army Child and Youth Programs by participating in a study, and receive up to $200 in Amazon gift cards. To participate, the family must have at least one youth between the ages of 11 and 18 and have at least one parent who is active-duty military. All family members must be present. Please allow up to one hour to complete the survey. 11th annual Spring Easter Festival

Come out and meet Peter Cottontail at the 11th annual Apache Arts and Crafts Spring Easter Festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Free activities include inflatable playgrounds, sidewalk chalk drawings games and more. You will also have the opportunity to paint ceramic eggs, bunnies and animals, as well as take photos with the Easter bunny, get caricature drawings and wax hands for a fee.

Apache Arts and Crafts, Building 2337 on 761st Tank Battalion Avenue and 62nd Street will conduct Make and Take Crafts for parents.

New to the festival this year are three Easter bunny piñatas at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Don’t forget to bring an Easter basket to pick up candy. 2013 Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt

This “egg”citing event boasts more than 65,000 candy-filled eggs, hidden among three fields at Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area. Loose candy and more than 350 prize eggs also are spread across each field designated for ages 2-3, 4-7 and 8-12. All age groups hunt for eggs at the same time and adults are required to hunt with children 2-7 years of age. Pre-hunt activities begin at 6 p.m. and include games, inflatable bouncers, concessions, face painting, a magician, photographs with the Easter Bunny. Admission is $6 per vehicle, $10 for 12/15-passenger vans and $20 for 24-passenger buses. Easter Sunday Brunch

Hop on down to Club Hood for an Easter Sunday Brunch. Two seatings are available, 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Children can participate in a free egg hunt and take pictures with the Easter bunny. The egg hunt will take place at 12:15 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. with two age groups, ages 1 to 5 and 6 to 10. BLORA Paintball Course

BLORA Paintball Course is now open weekends. BLORA Paintball is open to all, age 10 and older. Ages 10-17 require a guardian’s signature. The course is open Saturday and Sunday, and many holidays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The course may be reserved for groups on weekdays. Call (254) 287-2523.
