2013 Big Bass Contest

Whether an avid angler or recently lured into the world of fishing, this is your chance to sink your hooks into a reel winner. The heaviest catch wins a Rod and Reel Combo. The contest is open to all, and registration is available at the Sportsmen’s Center Pro Shop, Rod and Gun Club Loop, 53rd Street and Murphy Road, Building 1937, for $2 per participant. Fort Hood fishing permit and state license are required to participate. Participants can also weigh-in their catch at the Sportsmen’s Center Pro Shop. Call (254) 532-4552.

Thursday

It’s Board Game Night and Chess Club from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Casey Memorial Library, Building 3203 on 72nd Street and 761st Tank Battalion Avenue. All are invited to come and play board games. Some of the games available are chess, checkers, Chutes and Ladders, Scrabble, dominos and Pictionary. Games will be available at the Reference Desk.

Thursday

The Crown Royal Nascar Simulator will be on display from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Class VI store and the Clear Creek Main Exchange.

Through March 16

Participate in Teen Tech Week at the Casey Memorial Library, Building 3203 on 72nd Street and 761st Tank Battalion Avenue. Come in and take the texting challenge, or see if you can figure out 20 different phrases in texting language. Get all of them correct and win a prize.

Tuesday

The Book Club will meet from noon to 1 p.m. and will be discussing “The Longevity Project” by Howard Friedman. Bring a lunch. The book club will be held in Room 156 in the library annex. Ben Hogan Classic

The Ben Hogan Foundation wants to say “Thank You” to soldiers and their families for their service. Register for a day of free fun and entertainment at the Courses of Clear Creek’s Ben Hogan Classic. The event includes a 10 a.m. four-person scramble (30 teams maximum), 2 p.m. junior clinic (ages 5 to 15, 125 youth maximum), prizes, dinner and a 5:30 p.m. live performance from Jolie Holliday & Band. The event is completely free; registration is required to participate, with the exception of the concert, which is open to all DoD ID card holders. Children must be registered for the junior clinic by Monday and must have a parental guardian present at all times during the clinic. Come out and celebrate spring at the Casey Memorial Library with our Spring Fling. There will be different stations with activities such as a ball toss, crafts, a duck pond, popcorn and a bounce house. Dust off your Stetsons, polish your rhinestones and get ready to put a little jingle in your spurs, because Horsin’ Around at BLORA is having its 1st annual Wild West Hoedown for Spring Break at BLORA Ranch. Enjoy trail riding, barbecue and drinks, followed by a hoedown with DJ Tony Sandate (Tejano Outlaw). The all-day party kicks off with trail riding starting at 8 a.m., viddles served at 5:30 p.m. and boot scootin’ starts at 7 p.m. Make your reservation today: $80 per person or $150 per couple. There will be something for everyone, including pony rides and petting zoo throughout the day for the kiddos, and door prizes throughout the night.

BLORA Paintball Course

BLORA Paintball Course is now open weekends. BLORA Paintball is open to all, 10 years of age and older. Youths ages 10-17 require a guardian’s signature. The course is open Saturday and Sunday, and many holidays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The course may be reserved for groups on weekdays. Call (254) 287-2523.
