Maj. Gen. William Grimsley, III Corps and Fort Hood senior mission commander, pins Bob Bearden June 28 with medals and badges he earned as a soldier of the 82nd Airborne Division's 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment during World War II. Bearden wrote a book about his experiences during D-Day and as a prisoner of war titled, "To D-Day and Back." It was a reader who pointed out Bearden never received his medals and awards for his service. The ceremony at III Corps this summer remedied that.
