A passer-by leaves the Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce building, formerly the Killeen train Depot. Frank P. Killeen, the Assistant Manager of the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railroad named the city in 1882, when the railroad arrived at a small farming community known as Palo Alto. In May 1882, when the first train passed through the city, no more than 40 people lived in Killeen.
