COPPERAS COVE — Cookies from around the world, music from the Menoz family and the 1st Cavalry Division, and decorated trees that reached the ceilings transformed Stoney Brook Assisted Living facility into a holiday soiree Monday.

Resident Ellen Calloway, 91, said she enjoyed the music.

“The music makes it a little more festive,” Calloway said.

“I have no family here, but I am ready for Christmas. (The event) has everybody in the mood for Christmas.”

Residents could decorate their own cookies, build one of 10 different holiday puzzles, and eat cookies from four countries including Linzer cookies from Austria, Pfeffernusse (pepper nuts) cookies from Germany, Chinese almond cookies and Buccellati cookies from Italy.
