Jessica Gilliand gets help from her two sons, Beckett, 3, left and Carter, 1, while working in her garden Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at the Harker Heights Community Gardens at Carl Levin Park. Gilliand uses the plot in Harker Heights year round and enjoys coming back season after season to plant her vegetables and herbs. She also makes it a priority to always use all organic uses while caring for her crops. This season Gilliand is planting a variety of vegetables including, carrots, spinach, cabbage, peas, beans and a variety of herbs. The community garden is offered to any resident willing to pay for a plot and keep it tidy. For more information about the garden project contact the Harker Heights Recreation Department.
