Underground operation: Fort Hood tunnels used for training

Herald/CATRINA RAWSON - The West Fort Hood Underground Training Facility is illuminated for a tour Wednesday. Originally built between 1947 and 1948, the facility was part of a network of two other tunnel complexes constructed to house atomic weapons. Today, it’s a unique Army asset, the only true underground training facility in the country.
