Volunteers fighting fires in face of financial woes

Herald/TJ MAXWELL - Firefighters with Central Bell County Fire and Rescue discuss their strategy to contain a fire that destroyed two mobile homes and heavily damaged another Thursday in the 2500 block of Fort Road near Stillhouse Hollow Lake in Belton. Numerous summer wildfires, an endless drought and rough economic times are taking their toll on volunteer fire departments that have longed survived on community service and generosity.
