BELTON - Bell County commissioners on Monday approved two subdivision plats, two of a string of items on their meeting agenda.

During the meeting, the court approved the final plat for the Temple Dollar General Store subdivision, an 11.86 acre tract in Precinct 3, located in the city of Temple's extraterritorial jurisdiction near Moffat Road.

A Dollar General store will be situated on 2.41 acres, but plans for the remaining acreage are unknown, according to the county engineer.

The subdivision will use groundwater and a septic system.

A preliminary plat for the Dove's Landing III Subdivision on Royal Street in Salado, in Precinct 2, also was approved. Plans call for 12 lots, measuring 0.07 acres each.

The subdivision will get its water from Jarrell Schwertner Water Supply and will use a septic system.

It was noted the final plat for the subdivision would come back before the commissioners' court sometime within the next two years.

In other business, the court:

Approved a proclamation declaring October as National Fire Prevention Month in Bell County, with the theme of "Smoke Alarms: A Sound You Can Live With."

Approved a proclamation declaring Oct. 3-9, 2010, as National 4-H Week in Bell County. Participants and Texas AgriLife Extension Service leaders also were recognized during the meeting.

Approved a resolution authorizing a county grant for Hill Country Community Action Association so it would be eligible to receive funding from the Texas Department of Agriculture. The funding would supplement and extend existing services to homebound people who are elderly and/or have a disability.

Approved a resolution allowing the submission of a grant application for the fiscal year 2011 Bell County Drug Court Program to the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division.

Approved the appointment of Nicole Russell of Killeen to the Bell County Child Welfare Board.
