Harker Heights' Chief Plant Operator Paul Murray was recognized as Employee of the Quarter on Tuesday in the Kitty Young Council Chambers at City Hall.

Murray has been with the city since February 2007.

"We have people from different departments that get together to pick our employee of the quarter," City Manager Steve Carpenter said. "Paul is very deserving of that."

Numerous city employees were recognized at a ceremony before the council meeting.

"We used to do it during our meetings, but we decided to do it quarterly an hour before the meeting," Carpenter said.

Department heads recognized more than 25 employees, including those recently promoted or hired. Multiple public works employees were recognized for obtaining various licenses needed to increase their production.

It was Mayor Mike Aycock's first ceremony since being elected.

"We've got the best staff in the world," Aycock said. "You've made our job so much easier. I just want to thank you for all your hard work and all you do, and I speak for myself and the City Council."
