NOLANVILLE — Residents could soon be slurping down hot java and munching doughnuts when Ron Yoeung opens AM Donuts.

Yoeung will set up his 1,050-square-foot donut shop at the intersection of 10th Street and Avenue H next to Stop ’N Save. He applied for city permits Wednesday and can open once building inspectors say his store is up to code, according to city officials.

AM Donuts is a franchise based in Bakersfield, Calif., that has slowly spread eastward. The shops carry fresh doughnuts, coffee and other pastries. The nearest doughnut shops to Nolanville are in Harker Heights, Killeen and Belton. Yoeung was not available for comment.

In other business, the Nolanville City Council sent the Economic Development Corporation Board’s final paperwork to the state for approval. Although officials submitted the paperwork before, they had to resubmit the forms because of membership changes. After the state approves the paperwork in a few months, the EDC will be an official government entity.

The council also moved ahead with a mutual agreement between the city and Bell County Water District No. 3 to combine trash and water bills. Attorneys for both sides are working out which entity will be responsible for enforcing payment collection and if water will be turned off for residents with delinquent trash payments.
