For Realtor Eva Keagle to be honored as the Harker Heights Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year, it is all about giving back.
When it comes to “her community knowledge and her community involvement,” there is none other than Keagle, chamber president Bill Kozlik said.
Each year, the chamber recognizes a business that has benefited the community, promoted the city and is successful, Kozlik said. As a Realtor, Keagle has done those things. As a chamber member, she does even more.
“It is definitely a very unexpected honor,” Keagle said. “I just feel like I am the biggest cheerleader for Harker Heights.”
Keagle has been a chamber and community supporter for years. She served on its board of directors for nine years and as its chairwoman. Keagle also chaired the annual golf-tournament fundraiser for 15 years. She also helped during membership drives and served on several chamber committees.
Keagle said she serves because she was raised to give back to her community and has been selling homes in Harker Heights for 21 years.
Volunteering and being a member has its benefits, too, Keagle said.
“I really enjoy the meetings, and I enjoy meeting the new businesses,” Keagle said. “People come to me and say, ‘What do we have in the community?’ and I know the answer because I am on the board.”
