Auxiliary members displayed their wares Saturday to raise money for projects in support of veterans programs and rehabilitation.

American Legion Post 573 in Harker Heights held its first-ever Community Market Day featuring 18 vendors, a half-dozen flea market stations and a silent auction.

Mary Ann Endrihs, the event’s chairwoman, said the goal was to raise about $1,000 during the event.

Outside was a hodgepodge of furniture, electrical tools, household items, dishes and more.

Some of those items were donated to Families in Crisis.

Inside, vendors offered items like tutus, jewelry, handmade pottery, makeup and baked goods.

“We had a bazaar similar to this in November and purchased 144 pillows for kids coming home from deployment then presented them at Christmas time,” Endrihs said.
