Ryan Caperton, 32, is a veterinarian at the Stagecoach Pet Hospital. His love of pets made his career path clear.

Tell me about your family.

I am married with no kids. I have been married for four years. I got married in Fort Worth, where I am originally from, to the lovely Martina Caperton. My dad served in the Marines for 24 years. He is now a pilot for American Airlines. My mother owned a home health care agency and retired three years ago. Both of my parents live in Fort Worth. My sister is a social worker in Dallas.

What brought you to Central Texas?

My wife is a veterinarian at the ER clinic on W.S. Young. She has been working there for several years and commuting so we decided to move here in August.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I see myself in the same area. I like it here. I hope to be doing the same practice also. I love being a veterinarian.

If you could change one thing about your life what would it be and why?

I wish that I became a veterinarian sooner. I have two degrees, one in chemistry and the other is in veterinarian studies.

What was the best advice that you were given?

I was told by my dad to never give up on your dreams.

What do you like about the Harker Heights area?

I have a lot of family that lives around us. I am a fisherman, I fish around Belton Lake a lot and really enjoy it. I spent my summers in Belton when I was a child.
