James “Jimmy” Faulkner, 26, is a lifelong resident of Harker Heights. He attended Harker Heights Elementary and Eastern Hills Middle School, then graduated from Killeen High School.

Faulkner’s life changed drastically and quickly July 5 when injuries he suffered in a motorcycle accident on Nola Ruth Drive sent him to an area hospital where doctors determined he sustained head trauma.

He was in a coma for several weeks but is now out of the hospital and faces some financial challenges.

Paul Tucker owns and operates Paul’s Place, a bar he opened 1½ years ago at 1506 E. Veterans Memorial Blvd.

After learning of Faulkner’s plight, Tucker called on his regular customers and local residents to attend an Aug. 17 fish fry fundraiser. Plates of fried fish, French fries, potato salad, cole slaw and all the trimmings sold for $10.

“Here was a hard working kid down on his luck and I wanted to do something to help him out,” Tucker said.

The fish fry raised $280.

Faulkner attended the fundraiser and said he’s “got a lot more ridin’ to do.”

“I appreciate everything that people are doing for me.”
