Prospector Storage will host its first multi-unit garage sale for tenants and nonprofits from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 29.

Vendors include 30 tenants, Cub Scout Troop 242, Memorial Baptist Youth Group, Harker Heights Nittany Lions Youth Football Club, Harker Heights High School cheerleaders — who are raising money for the school’s booster club — and the City of Harker Heights Equipment Exchange Program,

The garage sale will consist of more than buying and selling, as Heritage Park Fitness will conduct a scavenger hunt for kids at 11 a.m., Subway and State Farm will pass out coloring books, and managers of the Harker Heights Sam’s Club — set to open in September — will give away water, said Prospector Storage owner Lisa Parker.

Those four companies, along with Starbucks, Sonic, Harley-Davidson, Origami Owl Custom Jewelry, Texas Tan, In Style Hair Studio and Vivian Spa Nails, will donate raffle items.

“Anyone that shops will get a ticket for a door prize,” Parker said.

About 75 various business employees, volunteers and tenants, will participate, Parker said. Through the years, different tenants have asked to hold on-site garage sales.

“We decided to make it more of a party,” Parker said. “It’s not a storage auction. (Tenants) figured they’d get more shoppers if they made it one big event. Several tenants were moving in June anyway, so it’s allowing them to de-clutter before they move.”

People can shop, buy baked goods, hot dogs, snow cones and popcorn and enjoy music from a DJ, Parker said.

She expects the event to draw a “couple hundred” people.

“We’ve had a lot of interest,” she said.
