Melonie Matthewson was recently named Employee of the Quarter for the city of Harker Heights, where she has worked for 15 years. She describes herself as a happy yet private person who loves Christmas.

What did you do to be named Employee of the Quarter?

I honestly do not know why I got the honor of being named Employee of the Quarter. I simply come to work, do my job that I get paid to do, and it is fun. I can honestly say that my job is fun and that I love it. The people I work with, we are like family.

What is your job title and what do you do?

I am the human resource coordinator. I take care of the employee benefits, their time sheets, payroll, all things that deal with human resources.

Where were you born?

I was born and raised in Texas. I am not willing to share what city I was born in, just know that I am a true Texan.

How do you spend your free time?

I love to watch sports, I enjoy all sports. I also enjoy hanging out with my “boys” — my son and my nephews. My boys and I will go see the movies they enjoy on the day it comes out. We can’t wait until days later; we must see them on the night they hit the movie theater. The movies that I like to see, just for me, I will wait until they come out on video, because I don’t want to take away any time from going to the movies with my boys. I also attend church.

What was the last movie you saw?

The last movie that I saw was “Transformers.” I watch all of the Transformers movies over and over again. I am a Transformer queen.

If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you would do?

I would get really excited and then I would go get it and share it with my family.

What was the best advice you were ever given?

The best advice that I was ever given was from my mother: Treat others the way you want to be treated.
