Band on the Run 5k set for Saturday

The Harker Heights High School Red Brigade Band Boosters is hosting the Band on the Run 5k fundraiser at 8 a.m. Saturday at Harker Heights High School, 1001 E. Farm-to-Market 2410, to fund expenses for the band’s new equipment trailer. The registration fee is $25 for adults and $10 for children ages 5-11. Racers can register from 7 to 7:30 a.m. on-site. Celebrate 50 years of Dr. Who

The Stewart C. Meyer Library is celebrating 50 years of Dr. Who with several programs Saturday. The first is a story time at 11 a.m. at the Market Heights Barnes & Noble, followed by Dr. Who family trivia at noon. Celebrating Native American lifestyles

The Stewart C. Meyer Library, 400 Indian Trail, is hosting a Celebration of Native American Lifestyles at 7 p.m. Saturday. A teepee and types of Native American dress will be on display. The event will feature music, storytelling, displays and a mini powwow.

Children’s Book Week

In honor of Children’s Book Week Nov. 18-23, the Stewart C. Meyer Library, 400 Indian Trail, is offering a variety of programs. There’s an Early Literacy Fair from 9:30 to noon Wednesday with a performance by Joe McDermott at 10 a.m. The library will also host a Family Fun Party at 6 p.m. Thursday. Building a better gingerbread house

The Harker Heights Activities Center, 400 Indian Trail, is hosting a free class on how to design, build, and decorate a gingerbread house from 1 to 3 p.m. Nov. 23. Supplies are provided. Frost Fest set for Dec. 6

Santa is coming to town from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Harker Heights Community Park, 1501 E. Farm-to-Market 2410. Kick off the Christmas holiday season with activities that include free cookies and hot chocolate, music, Christmas light displays and the big man himself.
