Blood drive Thursday at Union Grove

Union Grove Middle School will have a blood drive from 7:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at 101 E. Iowa, Harker Heights.

During December, blood donors will receive a commemorative snowflake ornament, a 2013 donor calendar, a coupon for two free games of bowling donated by Mel’s Bowling Alley in Georgetown, a coupon for a free cookie donated by Bodega Bean in Belton, and a chance to win a two-night stay at the Double Tree Suites in Austin.

Children learn to cook at library

The Harker Heights Public Library will present “Cooking Up A Great Holiday Kids Night Out” for children ages 6 to 10 from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Dec. 8.

Children will learn to make holiday treats. Parents can stay for free or take the time to get some holiday shopping done.

Registration is $10 for the first child and an additional $5 for each child living in the same household. Space is limited. To register, call (254) 953-5491.

Santa breakfast set for Dec. 8

The Junior Service League of Killeen will host Breakfast with Santa from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Dec. 8 at the Harker Heights Activities Center, 400 Indian Trail. Tickets are $4.

Donations needed for Santa Pal program

The Harker Heights Fire Department is taking donations for the Santa Pal program. New, unwrapped toys and monetary donations can be dropped off at the fire department, 401 Indian Trail, or City Hall, 305 Miller’s Crossing, until Dec. 14.

Applications to receive food and toys will be taken at the fire department starting Monday.
