Spring break is just around the corner for Central Texas and many families are retreating to places that promise sunny skies and warmer temperatures.

Teri Worley, owner of Teri’s Travel, has seen a steady flow of people coming into her office to book their March getaways.

“A lot of people still prefer to talk face-to-face with a person,” she said, adding she has been a travel consultant for 21 years. “They still turn to the Internet for ideas, but they come to me to help them put trips together and ensure they are getting the best pricing possible.”

She said many residents this year plan to take cruises to the western Caribbean and the Bahamas that leave out of Galveston.

The most popular destination, by a landslide, is Walt Disney World in Orlando, she said.

“I work cooperatively with Fort Hood’s Travel and Leisure Services,” Worley said. “Military families can get their park passes through them at a military rate and I can book their airfare.”

The best time to lock in the deals on travel is right after Christmas, she said.

“The closer you get to the date you want to travel the more expensive it becomes,” she said.

With only two weeks left before Bell County schools go on break, Worley said, it’s not too late to escape the unseasonably cooler weather in Texas.

“We have several specials going on that last-minute travels can take advantage of,” Worley said.
